JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee judge has refused to throw out government evidence against two men charged with plotting to kill President Barack Obama and dozens of other black people.
Daniel Cowart of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman of Helena-West Helena, Ark., failed to convince the judge they were wrongly arrested and searched without warrants.
The two were arrested last year and charged with planning a cross-country killing spree targeting African-Americans that was to end with an attack on Obama, who was then running for president.
Authorities describe the men as white supremacist skinheads.
Judge J. Daniel Breen held a two-day hearing last month on defense requests to have evidence dismissed. Breen filed a ruling Friday rejecting defense arguments.
