HAL TURNER ARRESTED

UPDATED

I had heard earlier today that Hal might be in some trouble - but, given his track record wasn't sure anything was going to come out of it. He might just not get out of this one too easily.

HARTFORD -- A New Jersey man with ties to white-supremacist and neo-Nazi organizations was arrested on felony charges Wednesday after his Web log suggested that two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics officer should be shot.

Harold Charles Turner, of North Bergen, also known as Hal Turner, was arrested by State Capitol Police for inciting injury

The arrest came the day after his blog alluded to using guns against Sen. Andrew J. McDonald, D-Stamford, and Rep. Michael P. Lawlor, D-East Haven, co-chairmen of the Judiciary Committee and Thomas K. Jones, enforcement officer for the Office of State Ethics.

Turner, 47, was booked in New Jersey, pending extradition to Connecticut.

Capitol Police Chief Michael J. Fallon said Capitol Police officers made the arrest Wednesday afternoon with the assistance of New Jersey authorities.

"Mr. Turner's comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech," Fallon said. "He is inciting others through his Web site to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct."

Fallon didn't know Wednesday night when the extradition would be completed and when Turner would face formal charges in Connecticut.

"It is very clear to us at the Turner Radio Network that the state of Connecticut has become tyrannical and abusive," Turner wrote in his blog Tuesday.

He defended the Bridgeport's Diocese's lawsuit filed against the Office of

State Ethics in an attempt to contest possible penalties for failing to register as a lobbyist March 11, when dozens of buses brought parishioners from throughout the state to protest a bill that would have changed the way Catholic parishes would be incorporated.

"While filing a lawsuit is quaint and the 'decent' way to handle things, we at TRN believe that being decent to a group of tyrannical scumbags is the wrong approach," Turner wrote.

"It's too soft. Thankfully, the Founding Fathers gave us the tools necessary to resolve tyranny: The Second Amendment," Turner continued. "TRN advocates Catholics in Connecticut take up arms and put down this tyranny by force. These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning in others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

Turner then promised to post the home addresses of Lawlor and McDonald on Wednesday. Both lawmakers, who were the chief legislative proponents of gay marriage after the state Supreme Court announced in October that same-sex couples should be allowed to wed, were targets of another threat in mid-March, when a New Britain schoolteacher was arrested and later received accelerated rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, veteran Rep. Christopher L. Caruso, D-Bridgeport, a Catholic who has made ethics reforms a key portion of his legislative agenda, said Wednesday it's clear that the Bridgeport Diocese should have registered as a lobbyist for the March 11 event, since Bishop William E. Lori set up the bus caravans from southwestern Connecticut.

"The law is the law and if an organization expends more than $2,000 then it must register as a lobbyist," Caruso said in an interview. "In this case the Office of State Ethics did inquire of the Diocese and the Diocese response was to file a lawsuit. I think it's in the best interests of the Diocese to comply with the law."

He said that religious institutions have to be held to state ethical standards like any other special interest.

"The law was created to provide full public disclosure on how money is being spent to lobby the Legislature," Caruso said. "The bishop took it upon himself to spend diocesan money and it's simply a matter of filing a disclosure."

Heidi Beirich, director of research and special projects at the non-profit Southern Poverty Law Center, said Wednesday that Turner is a neo-Nazi provocateur.

"He's been involved in Nazi circles for a long, long time," she said in a phone interview Wednesday from the law center's Washington headquarters, where it investigations racism and hate crimes.

We have been waiting a long time for this one. Given his posts from yesterday targeting three judges in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Hal might have just let his good-will with the feds overstep his bounds. We'll be watching.

Capitol Police Obtain Warrant To Arrest Radio Host Hal Turner

State Capitol police on Wednesday have obtained an arrest warrant for radio host Hal Turner for inciting readers of his blog to "take up arms" against two Connecticut lawmakers and an official with the Office of State Ethics.

Turner, who has been identified as a white supremacist and anti-Semite by several anti-racism groups, hosts an Internet radio program and produces a blog. Last week, he published a post that promised to release the home addresses of state Rep. Michael Lawlor, state Sen. Andrew McDonald and Thomas Jones of the ethics office.

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally,'' Turner's blog states. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."

And, he added, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too.''

Turner 47, of North Bergen, N.J., pledged to announce the officials' home addresses on his radio show Wednesday night, but he was arrested before that could happen. He was charged with inciting injury to persons or property and will be presented in a New Jersey courthouse Thursday for extradition to Connecticut.

"Mr. Turner's comments are above and beyond the threshold of free speech,'' Capitol Police Chief Michael J. Fallon said in an e-mail announcing the warrant. "He is inciting others through his website to commit acts of violence and has created fear and alarm. He should be held accountable for his conduct."

Turner's remarks followed a blog post in which he recounted the controversy over Senate Bill 1098. The bill, which would have changed the way the Roman Catholic church is governed, was pulled in mid-March following questions about its constitutionality. Last week, the Diocese of Bridgeport filed a federal lawsuit against state ethics officials who are investigating whether church officials violated lobbying laws by organizing a rally at the state Capitol earlier this spring.

  3. Bill White Imprisoned and standing trail, Yankee Jim Dead, now Hal Turner in Jail. It doesn't get any better than this.

I THINK TO MYSELF, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

  4. I can't believe anyone would be for anyone getting arrested over words. Remember if we go down this path, eventually they will come for YOU when no one is free. Support freedom before it is too late.

What about those who stand in the middle of Times Square NYC each day and with public address systems preach to "Kill Whitey " all day long? No one arrests them, in fact NYC issues them a permit for their daily displays of brotherly love.

You should be for EQUAL treatment and freedom of ALL opinions, not just the one's that you personally agree with. Otherwise we are all on a very slippery slope to total control by the gov't of everyone's THOUGHTS!

  5. Quit your whining. Hal is getting what is rightfully coming to him. There are limits to free speech and when you attempt to incite violence and hatred then you cross the line. Hal long ago crossed that line. Jim Ramm is next.

  6. I have prayed for the day that Hal Turner would get arrested. I also made sure that every day that I turned Hal into to the FBI and state anonymous tip lines. Hal was evil, even more so than Bill. He needs to be in prison where his anus can receive attention of amateur proctologists!

  7. There are limits to free speech and when you attempt to incite violence and hatred then you cross the line....

uh.......wtf?!?.....nigga rappers & gang-bangers urging fellow nogz to "kill whitey" doesn't "incite violence & hatred"....

BTW: go & read the First Amendment to the US constitution...it sez: Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; OR ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.....

    get it?

    that means: NO LAW, period!

    "speech" is argumetation, debate & disputation;

shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre ain't "free speech"....that's "deliberately causing an altercation and/or a malicious public nuisance"

Hal has made a dire mistake, much like Bill before him. He crossed the Nimbusters and is now in a vulnerable position.

Gee I hope no one calls this facility asking for common black names like Lee Roy Johnson, Tyrone Johnson etc., finds out peoples names who are locked up with Hal then tell them Hal is a Nazi and a child molester. Gosh darn I really hope no one does something like that.

  9. Right now in New Jersey it's 6:40am. Hal has already been raped twice and is having breakfast.

If only Hal had listened to Stan none of this would have happened.

  10. Hal Turner will come out of this a rich man. The Supreme Court has ruled that unless there is immediacy involved, there is no threat. Hal knows the laws better than most judges. Soon the charges will be dropped and Hal will file a lawsuit for unlawful imprisonment. If Hal gets a few million from this he could afford to buy his own FM radio station!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wait until they start getting search warrants for all his computer equipment including his server in Chicago. Wouldn't surprise me if other charges will start to land on Turner. Just like with BW, this is just the beginning.

  12. Yeah if you read Yankee Jim's diary you know that Hal was scum who's day was coming. Hal ain't gonna get out anytime soon and everything that happens to him he has got coming. I am laughing my ass off.

  13. I don't even like Hal Turner as he is a liar but there is no way I would ever jump on board with you freaks and say that he doesn't have the right to speak.

    Freedom of speech is unconditional.

I see the homosexual DeLorean is now again saying he is planning another murder / rape attempt.

Nice people your "friends" are Nikki. They are a bunch of criminals and losers.

  16. Wow Hooch the liar just called us a criminal and loser. Oh yeah that really makes me upset.....NOT.

If you are a racist and or an enemy of the Nimbusters then you will be made to pay. I have personally reported Hal to every law enforcement agency with a tip line for the last 4 months. It was no surprise to me when he got locked up. After what happens to Hal in prison/jail he won't even want to live when and if he gets out.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hal Turner is also a flight risk, should not get bail.

That is if they are doing their homework and have monitored his website.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You can clearly see that the NIMBusters admin is a twisted degenerate. He hopes that he gets "ass raped in jail." That is sick.

I think Hal is a complete idiot, failure and fraud. But wringing one's hands hoping for anal sodomy is another thing altogether. NIMBusters has again show the nature of their sick characters as far as I am concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hal isn't a flight risk, but I doubt they will give him bail anyway.

I wonder who they will arrest next.

Remember: people are being arrested for WORDS and not deeds, which should concern most Americans.

Sure, many won't argue for guys like Hal, but mark my words they are going to work from the Hal fringe inward to the mainstream.

  20. I can't remember asking you or even caring what the fuck you think, Von. Shut your pie hole. Come out of retirement so you can be next.

  21. Not sure how posting peoples addresses and suggesting Catholics pick up guns and kill them is the same as a stupid rap song. seriously. that is a threat. you can't threaten people, especially with guns, across state lines. i've never heard the rap songs saying "kill whitey", but if they say "kill _______ who lives _______", then that is a direct threat.

if it were your name and address being used i'm sure you'd look at it as "free speech" huh?

hal is extremely belligerent and delusional. he actually believes he is some kind of pariah.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hal is a flight risk. Remember he just "snuck" into the UK and went to Brazil.... LOL!!! We know he didn't go anywhere further than his parents house in Pennsylvania. Speaking of which, I need to email the police in Hartford that he has computers there also they will want to subpoena.

  23. I bet Nikki had numerous orgasms after reading the account of his arrest.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sounds like Nikki wishes to see Christians persecuted so they will become radicalized.

    Christian=the new Nazi, Nikki?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am not surprised. It has been a long time coming. It will be interesting to see if the White Nationalist community will speak out about this arrest as the government picking on an innocent man who has not committed any crimes or if they will state the truth that his words were really extreme and it was only a matter of time before he was arrested.

    ReplyDelete
  26. how is threatening someone with death free speech? how can anybody go about life normally when some idiot threatens them for trying to do their job? if you read the article, there are rules that church didn't follow. there are no exceptions. if they registered like they were supposed to no problem would exist.

i know if some idiot posted MY address suggesting that somebody else come kill ME, i wouldn't take that lightly and i'd be pissed if law enforcement took it lightly.

    you can't do that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. His words were extreme, but by no means were they illegal.

Hal is just guilty of believing he actually had 1st Amendment rights. They no longer exist, btw.

To the frustrated, freedom from responsibility is more attractive than freedom from restraint. 29. The Incitement Test (Brandenburg)
"The constitutional guarantees of free speech and free press do not permit a State to forbid or proscribe advocacy of the use of force or of law violation except where such advocacy is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action."

    ReplyDelete
  30. Prediction: This is a test of the 1st amendment, and he could very well walk away from this without a conviction.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Questions

    1. Would the KKK speaker in Brandenburg be protected by the First Amendment if he had said "NOW is the time to take revengeance" instead of "It's possible that revengeance may have to be taken"?

    2. What if the KKK speaker had said "If the Supreme Court decides case XYZ against us, then we must assassinate all the justices that voted the wrong way"?

    3. How should the "Mark Antony"-type speech be handled? (As you may know, Antony gave a famous speech arousing Romans to kill Brutus for his participation in the assassination of Caesar, but did so without ever literally suggesting that they commit murder--the suggestion was all between the lines.)

    4. To be the basis of a permissible prosecution under the First Amendment is it only necessary that there be an incitement to imminent lawless action, regardless of how minor may be the infraction involved? Can, for example, a demonstrator be prosecuted for urging people to "Go trespass" or "Jaywalk now!"?

    5. The full text of Hit Man is now posted on a website, accessible even by minors. Assuming that a murder could be traced to a person who downloaded information from the Hit Man website, could a civil suit or even a criminal prosecution be brought against the website author?

    6. Could a prosecution be brought, consistent with the First Amendment, against a person who posts pictures and addresses of abortion doctors, compares the doctors to genocidal Nazis, and crosses out the names of of doctors who have been murdered by anti-abortion extremists? (The 9th Circuit, in a case involving the so-called "Nuremberg Files," ruled such speech protected. See Planned Parenthood v American Coalition of Life Activists, 3/28/01). BTW- This case inspired Darly Lamont Jenkins to create his "rogue gallery" with vieled suggestions that those on the list be hurt. Using the test it was and is legal for OPP to list persons (though he has recently trimmed his hit list).

    ReplyDelete
  32. In my mind the issue is : When does the First Amendment allow the government to punish individuals for expression that may lead to unlawful conduct? That is the question and that is the case the state of Conneticut has to make.

    ReplyDelete
  33. nobody has answered my question, here i'll put it a different way:

some guy just posted to his blog (which has hundreds of thousands of supposed readers) YOUR name and YOUR address saying that you deserve to die and urging a whole group of religious people to take up arms against you because you take a different stance on an issue of law.

are YOU going to look at that as free speech?

  36. The first amendment does not protect someone when they threaten the life of another. Hal was doing this on a regular basis. To compound the offense Hal stupidly photographed himself with illegal weapons (the silencer). Hal has to be nine kinds of stupid. This isn't a matter of free speech it is a matter of a little crazy fat man threatening peoples lives and attempting to keep government officials from doing their job through intimidation. This is more of an open and shut case than even Bill White and probably more serious.. Hal is not going to walk away from this Scott free. If they search his house and find that silencer he might wind up doing some federal time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i agree with Raoul.

what could be more cowardly than sitting behind a computer blogging from a different state threatening lawmakers trying to follow the law in another state?

that's not free speech. that's some fat idiot threatening people he disagrees with.

    good riddance

    ReplyDelete
  38. If I start to agree that posting people's information should not be protected under free speech, then a LOT of anti-racist should be locked up. But what's one more double standard, huh?

Frankly, posting someone's info is just a way of saying, "so-and-so is a problem I can't deal with. Maybe someone else can." Wow. How tuff! I'm more than sick of the whole subject, no matter who is doing it.

I think we can all agree on one thing. There needs to be a clear law on wheather or not ANYONE can post people's info in any sort of negative way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. This is one of the few times I wish www.overthrow.com was still up. Can you imagine the field day Bill White would be having this news of little Harold's arrest?

  40. Anti-racist have and do the same thing routinely.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It is freedom of speech and they cannot be held accountable for other peoples actions particularly under mental, radical or violent senarios. Putting a gun in the hands of the wrong person can be detramental, putting a group of words in the hands of the wrong person also can be detremental but in no way can anyone be held accountable for other peoples actions.

  42. The borderline hateful things that some far left/right people say fall into that weird unregulated area. In our society, you can't silence people. It comes with upsides and downsides I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Don't know what he is charged with, but in my opinion what is shown on his site doesn't pass the "clear and present danger"test, nor does it rise to incitement to "IMMINENT LAWLESS ACTION" and "Likely to cause such action"

    ReplyDelete
  44. "I think we can all agree on one thing. There needs to be a clear law on wheather or not ANYONE can post people's info in any sort of negative way."--Anon.

Good point, and there isn't any clear law other than the last ruling by the 9th district court in the "abortion Dr. hitlist case", which is the basis in which anti-racist constructed hitlist of their own, and why law enforcement never did anything about it--there was and is no law.

It only began to become a troublesome legal wrinkle when the right-wing employed the same tactics.

    Truth.

    Deal with it.

  46. Plenty of fools in the comments thread applauding his arrest and demanding jail for Limbaugh and O'Reilly. Right in the middle is this gem:

"We in the Jewish community have long been working towards the day that bigots will be held accountable for their vile, disgusting hate speech. With the arrest of Mr. Turner, it appears that day has finally arrived.

Let the arrest of Turner be a warning to others - if you cross the line of free speech into hate speech, you WILL be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. "--Rabbi_Will_Rosen cratz

  50. They have to do away with the Constitution first...Why do you think the DHS label folk that believe in the founding document as potential terrorist?

    ReplyDelete
  51. so, if someone posted YOUR name and YOUR address and YOUR phone number suggesting a whole slew of people may want to kill you, you think that's ok and normal and should just be allowed?

seriously. everybody here knows if it was THEIR name getting dropped like that, you'd want something done about it regardless of "free speech".
