BILL WHITE GUILTY

From Roanoke.com

A federal jury has found William A. White guilty on four counts and not guilty on three counts.

The jury found White guilty of: threatening Jennifer Petsche, a Citibank employee in Kansas City, Mo.; intimidating several residents of a Virginia Beach apartment complex with the intent to prevent their testimony in a housing discrimination case; threatening Kathleen Kerr, an administrator at the University of Delaware; and threatening Richard Warman, a human rights lawyer from Canada.

The three counts that resulted in acquittals were: threatening Petsche, the bank employee, with the intent to extort; threatening Leonard Pitts, a nationally syndicated columnist in Bowie, Md.; and threatening Charles Tyson, the former mayor of South Harrison Township, N.J.

White faces a maximum of 40 years in prison on the four convictions. The lawyers involved are given 10 days to file post-verdict motions and to note appeals. After that, White will be sentenced.

  1. A maximum sentence of 40 years is pretty damned excessive. As much as I dislike Bill White and what he has done - that would be ridiculous.

  2. well, it as a split verdict but I thought it would be 2 guilty, 5 not guilty. I'm surprised the charge against Warman stuck. Up to 40 years they say he could get, depending on appeals and such.

No doubt White's rich parents will appeal this.

And just think of all the civil suits White is now facing or going to face.

  4. It would be in line with that Matt Hale got, which I thought was too much also.

I can see the judge now though, calling Bill White one of the most parasites to ever walk the earth before sentencing him.

There is also no parole in the federal system, White has to serve at least 80 percent of the time.

Prediction: We won't hear about Mr White in a few months until at least the year 2020.

When he started doing the phone calls and postal mail, that put him over the edge.

I am surprised he was found guilty on the Warman charge for I thought the defense tore Warman apart.

White will no doubt appeal, as he always does. Even with the Erica Hardwick stuff, White appealed all the way to the Virginia Supreme Court.

I can see Hal Turner laughing all over the floor tonight.

Hell, I think 10 years would be excessive, but we are living in perilous times.

I think the 14 months in prison taught him a lesson, and I don't think we would have heard from him again if he had beat this thing.

  12. Anonymous,

It didn't teach him a lesson. He was still writing letters and contacting white supremacist while in prison. Of course, he contacted FBI informants Alex Linder and Glenn Miller.

Remember, Linder testified on behalf of the government against White. There is no law stating Linder had to keep detailed ip and personal information. But yet not only did Linder keep the information, he turned it over to the government, free of charge.

I keep telling you, Linder is a fed who is recording EVERYTHING you say on VNN.

Now in closing, maybe the Government learned something from this case when they go after Hal Turner. That is, put VICTIMS on the stand. There's where the government failed on the 1st Turner case, they didn't put any victims on the stand.

  16. Oh...I have to agree with Harry. Bill hasn't learned a damned thing and I know that quite well. He is not capable of believing that there is anything wrong in what he did and feels absolutely no remorse - only outrage that he, such a genius, would be treated so shabbily. I mean, can't they see that he is a natural born leader and the great white hope?

So...I'm not going to cry him any rivers either. I DO find it pretty damned sad that his wife and child are the ones who will suffer the most. But, in the grand scheme of things, they are probably going to be better off without him. I know that his daughter will.

As I have said before, I really didn't think Hale would ever get the sentence he did. So...it's hard for me to predict what is going to happen. I was pretty sure that Bill would either be convicted of something or the jury would be hung.

As to the free speech issue - I am delighted that the jury saw what threats can do to individuals and their families. I am glad to know that courts recognize that this is another form of victimization and can be prosecuted.

Again...there REALLY IS a line that you CANNOT cross.

  19. Anonymous - I remember what you said about all white juries. But, the defense obviously wanted it that way. Bad move.

I also think that it was a very bad move for them not to put on their case - but that is supposing that they had one. In many instances, the defense wants to demonstrate to the jury that their client is human - but we're talking about Bill. Who would they get as character witnesses? Not only has he burned everyone he ever knew - but putting fellow Nazi's on the stand, might not have persuaded the jury in their favor.

And...I guess they could have put the psychiatrist on the stand who claims that Bill is sane. But...there's still that psychological evaluation that he published - and it's still floating around. ;)

  29. What I AM laughing my ass off at, is not the verdict, but Glenn Miller's conniption fit. The old guy just might have a stroke while posting right there on VNN. I guess we can look forward to more letters from the crypt being posted by he and Linder.

Now...for more serious discussion. We all know that this case will probably be appealed. Throughout the last decade, the debate about free speech has been raging. There are those who seem to believe that you can say anything to anyone anywhere without reprisal. And there are those who have said, no you can't.

This is my opinion. Threats are simply not acceptable behavior no matter where they come from. Tjey certainly extract more than a pound of flesh in the emotional trauma that they cause.

For those of you who seem to think that those threats were just words - or empty - and should be protected, apparently a jury of 12 disagreed.

For those of you who cavorted around the internet telling everyone who would listen that the majority of America thinks like Bill but were just too afraid to say it - think again. That just isn't true.

You know, the feds screwed up in Hal's case - but they were pretty determined to win this one. It's going to be interesting to see how they change their tactics when he goes back on trial.

Am I happy about the verdict - yes, I am. I have been wanting to see Bill White brought to justice for a lot of reasons, not the least of which are the number of people whom he has hurt - some of them friends.

I said yesterday that if a guilty verdict was brought in I would like to see him get time served, probation, and community service. I still feel that way. And...hey, that's a lot more magnanimous than what he would want if his shoes were on my feet.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bill threatened no one; intended to threaten no one; hurt no one; attacked no one; He was engaged in political speech, free speech which we have been told is guaranteed by Constitution of the United States. The only person who has truly been threatened here is Bill, his family and those that knew him, by a politically correct government that dislikes his politics.

  32. I admit that I was a bit surprised; pleasantly so. There is a fine line between free speech and veiled threats and he crossed it.

I admit that I was a bit surprised at the mix of guilty verdicts; I thought that he'd be acquitted on the housing project letters but convicted on the Pitts attempted intimidation.

It appears to me (though I haven't studied the testimony all that much) that the jury took into account the impact that White's actions had on his victims rather than just on what he did; that is, he could have done the same thing to two people and if one wasn't that bothered, he beat the rap on that case.

Of course, I could be mistaken and I'd welcome correction from those who followed more closely.

    Ollie

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm surprised, too, Ollie. And, while we have had pretty good updates throughout the trial as far as who and what, there has been precious little about what was actually said other than some of the incendiary text from Bill's writings.

From what I have been able to glean, it appears that those who gave the most gripping testimony were vindicated with a guilty verdict. I think Harry was onto something when he predicted that using the mail would hang him.

Unfortunately, there has been precious little reported about the defense and cross-examination. I hope to see a trial transcript soon.

  35. Max Blumenthal has a piece of Hal Turner today.

    link

On December 7, neo-Nazi hate radio impresario Hal Turner walked out of a Brooklyn courtroom a free man. Charged by federal prosecutors with incitement for urging his listeners to kill three judges who issued rulings supporting gun control, Turner escaped conviction when the jury deadlocked, forcing the judge to declare a mistrial. However, Turner will return to trial soon in Brooklyn and in Connecticut, where he faces state charges for telling his followers to “take up arms” against state lawmakers who voted to give Catholic lay members more control over church finances.

The trials of Turner might not have invited any media interest had he been another lone wolf howling into the night about the swarthy evildoers supposedly destroying America. After all, white supremacists across the country are persistently prosecuted for activities ranging from criminal littering to murder. But Turner has been an insider both in the New Jersey GOP and in a controversial federal anti-terror program designed to “flush out” violent far-right plots, making him a treasure trove of information on the many prominent Republicans he has associated with over the years. These characters include Turner’s former friend Sean Hannity, who allegedly counseled him on overcoming his cocaine habit and homosexual urges, and New Jersey Governor-elect Chris Christie, whose alleged involvement with Turner may result in the first scandal of his term.

A former moving company manager and real estate agent from North Bergen, NJ, Turner broke into radio when he purchased a time slot on an eclectic short wave station in 2003. He quickly cultivated a small but loyal following of white supremacists, making his show a key hub for an amorphous and violent movement guided by the philosophy of “leaderless resistance.” His formula was simple: discarding the racial code language familiar to mainstream conservative radio jocks in favor of hysterical diatribes against “bull dyke lesbians,” “hook-nosed Jews,” “savage Negroes,” and “filthy mongrels.” Turner’s official website described him as “so far to the right he makes Rush Limbaugh look like a liberal and Sean Hannity seem like a girlie-man!”

Turner consolidated his extreme profile by consistently urging the assassination of any liberal who offended him, from President Barack Obama to an array of lowly circuit court judges to this writer. Indeed, Turner declared me fair game after my 2005 report for the Nation Magazine about his friendship with Fox News personality Sean Hannity resurfaced during the 2008 presidential primary campaign.

“I am perfectly willing to use force and violence against my enemies while Sean Hannity and others are not,” Turner proclaimed in an internet posting in March 2008. “Those using me as a prop to attack Sean Hannity would do well to remember this fact. Rest assured I will remember them when the opportunity presents itself; especially as it pertains to that douche bag sodomite Max Blumenthal for the falsehoods and total trash he wrote about me in ‘The Nation‘ magazine.”

  49. This is something interesting. There was a lot of talk in the case about aliases and people assocaited with White that may have posed as White while making threats. These threats were far worse than any White was charged with making. Inditements are on the way! If you were assocaited with Bill White's white supremacist group, you can almost bet on being charged now that White's trial is out of the way. Now that they know who White wasn't, they can just charge who they want to with the rest. The rest was over half of the case. I am aware of 8 inditments on the table right now and possibly more to come.

  51. Been busy finishing my PhD, and it is interesting (maybe ironic) that I happened to drift back to this site within a handful of hours since BW's conviction. A few thoughts:

    1. I agree with Nikki that 40 years is profoundly excessive. I suspect he will end up with 10 years and get out in 6-7 if he avoids trouble in prison.

    2. As for Bill's tactics: the man is the ultimate cyber-terrorist. I personally endured many weeks of harassment orchestrated by Bill White, and if any of you WNs think he is being railroaded, be aware that these cases are merely the scratched surface of Bill's Internet criminality.

    3. I share Nikki's concern for White's wife and daughter, neither of whom deserved the trial-related chaos. Yes, I know Megan White was a nominal WN, but I suspect this was as much going along with her husband as being a hardcore racist.

    4. Re: Hal Turner - it will continue to be difficult for the Feds in the March retrial due to Hal's efforts over the years to obfuscate his activism. He has jumped from "WN activist" to "satire" to "informant" as fit his current needs, and frankly the charges against Hal lack some of the compelling evidence in BW's case (snail mail and telephone calls in particular).

Like Hal Turner, Bill has a lot of talent - talent that was wasted on bullshit. And, that is a shame. It's really too bad that all of that talent wasn't put toward something positive and productive.

We like to lock people up in the United States considering we have two and a half MILLION people behind bars. Almost half of which are negros even though they only represent 13 percent of the population.

7.3 million people are either in prison, on parole or probation.

And to lock up "cyber terrorists" like Bill, as the homosexual above calls him; it costs an average of $23,876 per person and that is AFTER any prison work they do.

I'll betcha that was money well spent to Mr. Smarty Pants. The bailout too. All of them. His PhD is clearly not in economics.

You are missing the most important aspect in ALL of these recent anti-white (for now) cases. That which was once considered 'diesel therapy' (convicted prisoners constantly transferred from site to site by the System, both to torture them and to break their communication with supporters) has now morphed into very real 'Star Chamber' judicial proceedings.

How long have these people been held without realistic bond? When will this method affect everyone?

Fascism is not a doctrine, it is a state of being unified; what we have here is simple tyranny and despotism.
